1) Southern Vancouver Island Area Education Award - $400 (under 21 years of age)
Objective:
-
To encourage further education for active members of Girl Guides of Canada, SVI Area.
Eligibility:
Any Guiding member under 21 years of age registered in Girl Guides of Canada, who has been active in Southern Vancouver Island Area for at least one year, and who is furthering her education either at university, college, technical school, school of fine arts or other recognized educational institution.
Guidelines:

The recipient must be an active member of Girl Guides of Canada, SVI Area.

The recipient must be continuing her involvement in Girl Guides in some capacity.
-
The recipient must agree to have her name and photograph publicized.
-
This education award is conditional on acceptance by the recognized institution and will be awarded on receipt of proof of registration.

Candidates will be evaluated on the following:

Service/volunteer positions
-
Other interests and activities
-
Applicant's letter
-
Guiding involvement
-
Two letters of recommendation
-

The applicant's letter should be 250-300 words and include how Guiding has influenced her life, how she plans to continue her involvement in Guiding, and her future plans.

Two letters of recommendation are to be submitted by adults unrelated to the applicant; one by a member of Guiding, the other by someone outside of Guiding.

The SVI Area Education Awards application forms and reference forms must be used. Please do not submit additional information.
2) Jean Goulson Memorial Education Award - $400 (21 years of age and older)
This Education Award was established in memory of Jean Goulson, Honorary Life Member of Girl Guides of Canada and former active member of Southern Vancouver Island Area. Jean was a Training Chairperson for SVI Area. At the Provincial level, she held a number of positions, including Provincial Camping Adviser and Provincial Training Commissioner. This award will continue her legacy of support for educational opportunities for Guiders.
